Trashtag Challenge - The Cleanup Hashtag
A challenge has resurfaced and it has been encouraging people to clean up their surroundings. According to BuzzFeed, the trend began in 2015 when a Seattle based outdoor lighting company started promoting the project - #trashtag challenge. Well this challenge is something that makes the place we live in better and also gives bored teens something to do and post online!
All that has to be done in this challenge is to pick up litter in an area and take selfies after you are done. Before and after pictures are the most common and popular format.
The trashtag challenge commenced on a fine day in 2015 as an Instagram post where he it was asked from bored teenagers something worthwhile for the surroundings they live in by cleaning a littered area and then posting a before and after picture of it. The challenge became a sensation a few days ago as more and more people began to take it up. Social media platforms filled up with pictures of once garbage stricken areas turning into magnificently clean spots.
Such initiatives are innovative ways in using social media platforms as a core element in bringing out substantial changes to our environment. People should be more vigilant on their garbage disposal methods as the amount of trash increases on a daily basis. So if people are willing to take up such ideas and implement it, not only would their surroundings be clean but also they will be in the spotlight and become a center of attention in the social media sites. How nice would it be to turn out to an overnight celebrity by just cleaning your environment? Awesome!
